The story of the team: "It is difficult to find on the market today seed varieties which are derived directly from plants and fruits of a few decades ago. Even more difficult is to find seed varieties are no longer cultivated". In Italy there are several agencies that deal with the cataloging and preservation of seeds, including the CRA-SCS or National Elected Seeds (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ente_nazionale_sementi_elette).
There are also organizations that do a very important work for the defense of biodiversity and for the conservation of these varieties. The seed that we are looking for is unfortunately not available in the official catalogs and has not been officially cataloged at the national and even we were able to track him through associations in the area.
We did not give up and we turned directly to small farmers in the area, those who farm for himself and his family, who have preserved small amounts of seed that we were looking for with pride and pride have it delivered. But why look for these seeds? First of all because they are seeds that have not undergone special treatment and are not hybrids (artificially seeds obtained by crossing plants of different varieties). Why are seeds that have been handed down from generation to generation with natural methods. Because today the rediscovery of ancient flavors is more important than quantity and production capacity that is functional and processing industries, and much less to the taste and quality.
Now I'm really curious to see the different plants that will arise from the different seeds collected for future study and select for future cataloging and cultivation".
